Textbooks I Use

In my work with adult students, I use the English File textbook. Today, it is one of the most popular English language resources in the world. As the authors themselves say: "it's the course that gets students talking." And I completely agree. Like many others, this textbook is built on the communicative methodology. More importantly, the material is written in modern language, presented in an engaging format, and covers topics that can spark genuine interest in any student. After all, if someone is interested in something, they start discussing it actively! Additionally, a major plus is that grammar rules are introduced in the simplest and most understandable language. I have worked with all six levels of this resource, from Beginner to Advanced. Like any other, it consists of a student's book for class, a workbook for written homework, audio CDs, a DVD (with video materials, an interactive textbook, and a self-study program), a teacher's book, additional website materials, and much more! There is so much material that it's not always possible to use everything in one lesson. Each course consists of 10–12 units, each including 2–3 lessons. They contain grammar rules, texts (based on covered grammar or new vocabulary), various stories, tests, games, songs, audiobooks, videos on all sorts of topics (including a video story with a plot), pronunciation and writing exercises, and most importantly — a lot of communication!

Another wonderful textbook I use with adult students is Speakout. It is a six-level English course for adults created using authentic BBC materials. Like English File, Speakout is built on the communicative methodology and includes, besides the standard set of materials, clips from feature films and documentaries, as well as BBC video interviews on various topics (sports, travel, work, leisure, the environment, etc.).

Cutting Edge is a six-level course for young people and adults (aged 15 and up). The course offers well-balanced material for developing all language skills and improving knowledge of lexical and grammatical materials. The textbook is accompanied by various video materials and digital components that allow for learning using modern tools.

A famous and very popular European general English course for young people and adults who want to learn to communicate quickly and effectively in today's world. Based on the communicative approach, the course combines the best of current methodology with new features that make learning and teaching the language easier. Equal attention is given to grammar and vocabulary, with an emphasis on listening and speaking in real situations. The excellent multimedia component of this textbook motivates students to learn interactively, including independently.

A modern, comprehensive business English course. A cutting-edge textbook saturated with business vocabulary, concepts, and terminology. The primary emphasis is on teaching communicative skills and fluent pronunciation. Business Result is a communicatively oriented course with interactive multimedia materials, plus expert recommendations and advice from a leading global business school. The Business Result series helps students acquire necessary knowledge quickly and effectively.

This textbook is based on the lexical approach, meaning it contains a vast number of modern words and expressions that help students understand how English vocabulary works. Additionally, you will find many grammar tasks that provide examples of what is actually used in modern spoken and written English. Great attention is paid to speaking practice, enabling students to express themselves freely on any topic in English. Besides the standard Student's Book and Workbook, Outcomes also comes with a Vocabulary Builder. This book contains all the new words students learn in class, their definitions and explanations (like in a monolingual dictionary), as well as the most common collocations! By using the Vocabulary Builder instead of a standard dictionary, you can dive much deeper into the language environment and better remember new vocabulary.

This course is designed for people studying Information Technology or working in the IT field. It is suitable for use in universities, technical colleges, and adult education programs for those who want to improve and expand their language skills.

Grammarway is a four-level grammar resource. The book is designed for English learners at levels A1–C1 and can be used for self-study or classroom work as a supplement to any course at these levels. The goal of the book is to help students understand English grammar based on theory (in tables and functional examples accompanied by colorful photos and illustrations). The textbook consists of 20 units, each dedicated to a specific grammar topic. This textbook is excellent for reinforcing grammar rules and structures. This is no surprise, as the resource contains over 500 grammar exercises for beginner and intermediate students! Additionally, unlike British textbooks, you will find many exercises for translation from Russian to English. The resource is supplemented with grammar hint tables and explanations, as well as a dictionary.

Some of the most popular English grammar textbooks in the world. Essential Grammar in Use and English Grammar in Use are self-study references and grammar guides in one for elementary (A1–B1) and intermediate (B1–B2) students, respectively. These books are very simple and easy to use. They are ideal for self-study and reinforcing grammar after main course lessons. The resources cover all aspects of grammar at these levels.
